NO KINGS III Rally in Oldham County Calls for Accountability
From data centers and surveillance to state budgets and federal power, Oldham County residents are bringing their concerns to the streets this Saturday for a peaceful “No Kings” rally in LaGrange.
Oldham County, KY: Kentucky Citizens for Democracy (KCfD) will host NO KINGS III, a peaceful community rally, on Saturday, March 28th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Courthouse Square in downtown LaGrange.
This event is about something simple but fundamental: in America, we don’t have kings.
Across Oldham County, Frankfort, and Washington, we are seeing what happens when power is concentrated and left unchecked. Decisions are being made behind closed doors. Policies are moving forward that go directly against the will of the people. And time and again, those decisions seem to benefit political insiders and corporate interests while everyday Kentuckians are left to deal with the consequences.
“We’re coming together because people feel it,” said Alex LeBlanc, Executive Director of KCfD. “They see what’s happening. They see the lack of transparency. They see who these policies are really for. And they’re ready to speak up.”
At the local level, concerns continue to grow around major decisions being made without meaningful public input, from proposed data center developments to the expansion of Flock camera surveillance systems, to the Oldham County Detention Center’s 287(g) agreement with ICE.
At the state level, Kentuckians are being asked to accept a bare-bones budget that underfunds public schools and critical services, while tax breaks continue to flow to those who need them the least. At the same time, shell bills and last-minute amendments are being used to quietly insert culture war agendas into solid legislation after committee review, a practice that undermines transparency and shuts the public out of the process.
At the national level, one party holds control of all three branches of government, and the guardrails that are supposed to protect our democracy are under strain. The influence of billionaire donors, the lack of accountability in the executive branch, and the absence of meaningful pushback from Congress have left many Americans questioning whether those in power are still working for the people.
“We are approaching a moment where the checks and balances that define our democracy are being tested in ways we have not seen in generations,” said LeBlanc. “History shows that when power goes unchecked, it is the people who pay the price.”
NO KINGS III is also about reminding our broader community of something equally important: the people speaking out are not enemies of America. They are citizens who love this country. They are neighbors, friends, and family members choosing to stand up for their principles and for the future of their communities.
KCfD emphasizes that this will be a peaceful, community-centered event grounded in civic engagement and the exercise of First Amendment rights.
